4 Ton Rooftop Package Unit Replacement Project in Russia

YUJU recently supported a customer in Russia with the replacement of an existing rooftop packaged air-conditioning unit that had failed after long-term operation.

The original unit was an older cooling-only rooftop system using R22 refrigerant. Based on the technical documentation provided by the customer, our engineering team reviewed the existing cooling capacity, airflow, power supply and installation conditions to identify a suitable modern replacement.

Replacement Solution

For this project, YUJU proposed a complete rooftop package unit replacement rather than attempting to repair or reuse the old refrigeration system.

The selected replacement unit provides approximately 47,000 Btu/h of cooling capacity, equivalent to about 13.8 kW or 3.9 TR, with an indoor airflow of approximately 1,730 CFM (about 2,940 m³/h).

Why Rooftop Replacement Can Be Simple

Because a rooftop package unit integrates the main refrigeration and air-handling components into one complete assembly, replacement is often more straightforward than replacing a split system.

As long as the new unit provides suitable cooling capacity and airflow, the existing ductwork can usually be adapted on site with transition sections. This allows customers to replace obsolete or failed rooftop equipment without rebuilding the entire HVAC system.
