T3 Split Air Conditioner Engineering Support for Oman: 30,000 BTU High-Ambient Workshop Cooling

Air-conditioning equipment installed in industrial workshops in Oman must handle more than high outdoor temperatures. Long operating hours, airborne dust, voltage fluctuations and local energy-efficiency requirements can all affect equipment selection.

For HVAC contractors and project buyers, choosing a suitable T3 air conditioner requires confirmation of cooling capacity under high-temperature conditions, compressor configuration, electrical specifications and applicable market certification.

A regional HVAC engineering customer approached YUJU with a detailed requirement for a 30,000 BTU/h (2.5 Ton) cooling-only split air conditioner intended for continuous operation in a high-temperature workshop environment in Oman.

The project is currently under technical and commercial evaluation, with the final equipment configuration subject to engineering review and confirmation of the purchasing quantity.

T3 high ambient split air conditioner for industrial workshop cooling applications in Oman

High-ambient workshop cooling requires equipment selection based on actual operating conditions, rather than nominal capacity alone.

1. Cooling Requirements for Industrial Workshops in Oman

The customer specified a wall-mounted split air conditioner with a non-ducted indoor unit and an air-cooled outdoor condensing unit.

Unlike a standard residential air conditioner, the proposed equipment must be evaluated for continuous operation under demanding workshop conditions.

Requirement Project Specification
Target Market Oman / Middle East
Application Industrial Workshop Cooling
Product Type Wall-Mounted Split Air Conditioner
Operating Function Cooling Only
Nominal Cooling Capacity 30,000 BTU/h / 2.5 TR / Approx. 8.8 kW at T3 Conditions
Climate Classification T3 High-Ambient
T3 Rating Condition 46°C Outdoor Ambient
Maximum Operating Ambient Continuous Cooling at 52°C or Higher
Operating Duty Up to 24 Hours per Day
Workshop Conditions High Temperature and Airborne Dust
Power Supply 220–240V / 1Ph / 50Hz — Subject to Project Confirmation

The customer requested separate cooling-capacity and power-input data under T1 and T3 conditions, rather than relying on a single nominal capacity rating.

2. Why T3 Cooling Capacity Matters

For high-temperature markets, a nominal 30,000 BTU/h air conditioner may not deliver the same cooling output at 46°C as it does under standard T1 conditions.

This difference is important for industrial workshops where the air conditioner must operate during the hottest periods of the day.

For this project, the customer specifically requires:

  • 30,000 BTU/h nominal cooling capacity under T3 conditions at 46°C outdoor ambient.
  • Separate T1 and T3 cooling-capacity declarations.
  • Corresponding rated power-input data.
  • Continuous cooling operation at outdoor temperatures of at least 52°C.
  • Confirmation of the maximum guaranteed operating temperature.

The equipment's ability to continue operating at 52°C must be distinguished from its rated cooling capacity at 46°C. Both conditions require appropriate technical verification.

The customer also requests performance testing according to GSO ISO 5151 for the proposed non-ducted split air conditioner.

T3-rated cooling performance and maximum operating temperature are separate technical considerations when selecting air conditioners for Oman.

3. Compressor and Refrigeration System Requirements

The requested equipment uses a fixed-speed, non-inverter operating principle. The compressor must therefore be selected according to the required cooling duty, ambient temperature and operating reliability.

The customer's preferred configuration includes:

  • Hermetic reciprocating piston compressor.
  • T3-rated compressor suitable for continuous heavy-duty operation.
  • Fixed-speed, on/off operation.
  • R410A refrigerant or a suitable alternative proposed by the supplier.
  • Declaration of compressor manufacturer and model.
  • Declaration of refrigerant type and factory charge quantity.
  • Stable operation within the agreed voltage range.

A rotary compressor is not the customer's preferred configuration. If proposed, it must be presented as a separately priced technical alternative rather than an automatic replacement for the specified reciprocating compressor.

The final compressor and refrigeration configuration will depend on technical feasibility, validated performance and the agreed project requirements.

4. Outdoor Unit Design for High Temperature and Dust

Workshop applications can expose air-conditioning equipment to continuous operation, dust accumulation and demanding outdoor conditions.

The customer's requested outdoor-unit construction includes:

  • Galvanized steel casing with powder-coated finish.
  • Anti-corrosion coated condenser fins, such as gold-fin or blue-fin treatment.
  • Copper-tube heat exchanger construction.
  • Weather-protected electrical compartment.
  • Outdoor fan protection guard.
  • Compressor overload protection.
  • High- and low-pressure protection.
  • Voltage protection and restart-delay functions.
  • Automatic restart after power interruption.

The indoor unit is expected to include a washable high-density air filter, condensate drainage, adjustable air louvers and declared operating noise levels.

The specification also requires anti-freeze protection and a wireless remote controller with timer and sleep functions.

Because the proposed application involves a dusty workshop, access for filter cleaning and condenser maintenance must also be considered when reviewing the installation.

Outdoor-unit materials, condenser protection, electrical safety and maintenance access are important for long-duty workshop applications.

5. Installation Accessories and Project Configuration

For project buyers, the supplied installation accessories can affect both equipment cost and site installation planning.

The requested standard installation package includes:

  • 5-meter insulated copper refrigerant pipe set.
  • Indoor and outdoor interconnecting cable.
  • Condensate drain hose.
  • Indoor-unit wall mounting bracket.
  • Wireless remote controller with batteries.

The outdoor-unit mounting bracket or support stand is requested as a separately priced item.

The customer also requires confirmation of the maximum permitted refrigerant pipe length, maximum installation height difference and applicable cable specifications.

Final accessory quantities and specifications will be confirmed against the selected equipment configuration before quotation approval.

6. Oman Energy Efficiency and Certification Requirements

Importing air-conditioning equipment for the Oman market requires attention to applicable product efficiency, conformity assessment and labeling requirements.

The project specification identifies the following documentation requirements:

  • Compliance with the specified Oman MEPS requirements under GSO 2530:2016.
  • Declared EER, energy-efficiency rating and rated power input.
  • Oman energy-efficiency label registration for each applicable model.
  • Energy label affixed to the corresponding equipment.
  • Valid GSO conformity documentation applicable to Oman.
  • Performance test reports according to GSO ISO 5151 or GSO ISO 13253, as applicable.
  • Product marking consistent with the applicable requirements.

These documents must correspond to the actual equipment configuration and model offered for the project.

Existing approvals, additional testing requirements and any model-specific registration procedures must be verified before the final commercial offer is confirmed.

7. Warranty, Factory Testing and Spare Parts

For equipment expected to operate for extended periods in a workshop environment, product quality and after-sales arrangements are important parts of the purchasing decision.

The customer requested an ISO 9001-certified manufacturing organization, factory testing of each unit and batch-level test documentation.

The proposed commercial warranty requirements include:

  • Minimum two-year comprehensive equipment warranty.
  • Minimum five-year compressor warranty.
  • Warranty period requested from the date of commissioning.
  • Defined warranty claim and replacement-parts procedures.

The customer also requested separate spare-parts pricing for compressors, capacitors, fan motors, PCB assemblies and remote controllers, with a suggested spare-parts allowance of approximately 2% of the purchased quantity.

Final warranty conditions, service responsibilities and spare-parts arrangements are subject to agreement with the selected production configuration and project requirements.

8. From Technical Inquiry to Customized Production

A detailed specification does not automatically mean that an existing standard model will satisfy every requirement.

For this Oman workshop cooling inquiry, the next step is to establish the expected purchasing quantity and evaluate whether the requested compressor, cooling performance, equipment construction and approval requirements can be supported within a practical production arrangement.

The engineering and commercial evaluation follows this process:
